Now that we are officially in the Fall. Those crisp mornings and mild evenings command a different approach to selecting your outfit. The weather can be inconsistent (depending on where you live). One minute it’s chilly and the next warm enough to rock a tee. This can be a little frustrating but don’t worry, we have a few ideas to help pick the right fit for the job.
The weather can be more deceptive than than person you had a disagreement with. You think everything’s cool until they apply the heat when you least expected. The best way to stay prepared for these conditions is to go with a light weight layers that are easy to remove in a pinch. Try going with a light/ medium weight woven, t-shirt, pants, your choice of sneakers or casual shoes, and a bandanna to complete the fit. Your outfit will not only prepare you for any changes in the weather but you will also remain stylish no matter the conditions.
Sometimes you might not feel like flexing your sartorial muscles and just want to keep things simple without looking like you rolled out of bed. You can start with your favorite comfortable bottom (chino, denim, etc.), pattern woven (stripe, camouflage, floral, or any pattern of your choice), shoes, and a jacket. No matter the occasion, weekend get-to-gather, date night, or just running a few errands the right combination will have you comfortable and looking great all season.
As the days get shorter, the nights become longer, and the temperature cooler than your favorite uncle, this perfect time to add some layers to the mix. Layers can provide that extra dimension to your outfit while keeping you warm. You can go with a sweater, woven, and realex outfit or you can get creative and incorporate different garment types like hoodie, woven, pants and shoes of your choice, and tie. Be sure that your neckwear ties back to one of the other colors in your outfit for some additional pop. Remember, it's only clothes, so have fun and style stylish.

There are plenty of reasons why you’re on a job search. Maybe you have seen a significant salary increase for your same position in the market, a career switch, or unfortunately, toxic work, or downsizing could lead you to a job search. After beating the ATS or your resume caught the attention of HR, you finally have an interview for your dream job. If you haven’t been through the interview process in a while it can be overwhelming but don’t worry here are a few tips to help it go smoothly.
I know you’re like “Look, I already checked out the company before I applied for the position. Why am I going to do this again?”. While checking out the general information about the business and position is a major part of what you need to know but delving deeper can make the difference between a good interview to a great interview. Check for details like recent accomplishments, community service, interviewer and position, company (or interview) location, and salary range for your position in the company. Some of these extra nuggets will help give you the slightest edge to help increase your chances of success.
You think just because you did your research now I can take it easy. Wrong! A good way to guarantee that your prospects of landing the job end faster than a bad sitcom is not being prepared. A few things you can do days before your interview are read over and memorize your resume, drive to the interview location, select your outfit the night before, prepare a few questions, and get a good night's sleep. Preparation is everything!
Trying to figure out what attire is appropriate for the interview can be frustrating but also time-consuming. Even though the majority of the corporate world is moving towards a new standard of business casual here are a few easy rules to make sure you’re dressed appropriately. Before you even pick a pair of socks make sure you do a vibe check on the company (see “Do your research” paragraph for more details) via their website or if you know someone who works (or worked) for the company to give you more insight of the culture. The last thing you want to do is look like a square to a bunch of circles. Once you get the correct intel dress accordingly, and think about the position you applied for, if it’s an executive position you should wear a tie, tailored trousers, and a sports jacket (or suit) (unless corporate uniform is relaxed), now if going for an entry-level job you’re best bet is to stick to trousers, casual footwear, and collared shirt. Depending on the position and company select clothing with a color palette subtle, no need to overwhelm your future employer with your cool neon pink sports jacket (not off the bat at least). Be sure to get your hair, facial hair, and nails cleaned and manicured before your interview.
Even though the corporate office culture has changed over the past few years leaving a positive first impression hasn’t changed. Try to arrive at your interview destination at least 10 - 15 mins before the scheduled time. Not only will this put you in a positive light but it also gives you a few minutes to shake off those pre-interview jitters or just hit the bathroom to freshen up a bit. Make sure your clothes are clean, pressed, and stain-free. You may be a fragrance connoisseur but your interviewer might be sensitive to certain smells, so it might be a good idea to go without it. Keep your chatter to a minimum, just focus on answering the questions to avoid any unnecessary judgments.
Lastly, shake the interviewer's (or team's) hand (or whatever is customary) and thank them for their time, you’re not only leaving them with a positive impression but you’re also showing them you’re a class act. Don’t forget to send an email or letter to follow up this is to make sure you stay fresh on their minds. Following these guidelines might not necessarily guarantee you the position but they will help to make you prepare for any opportunities that come your way.
]]>Summer is officially here and that means plenty of adventures are on the horizon. It’s the perfect time to enjoy some festivals, trips, and get-togethers with friends and family. With that being said it can be difficult to create an outfit that says “It’s me” while trying to remain cool and comfortable in extreme temperatures and (or) weather conditions. The task to get fly can be downright daunting resulting in you just wearing white tees and shorts all summer (which can be quite boring) and let’s be honest unless you’re a cartoon character in a sitcom who wants to do that. We decided to do a little research and create four solid styles that not only look great but are also practical for the season.
It’s nothing like having a nice pattern woven shirt for the summer. The trick is finding one that’s comfortable and works well with different garments in your wardrobe. We suggest going with a lightweight, breathable fabric such as cotton or linen to prevent overheating and pairing it with shorts or pants (roll up the pant legs to the ankle for a clean look). Completion the outfit with sneakers that pulls from one of the prominent colors in the shirt for added detail.
Some days there’s no way around it, the heat is going to win no matter how you try hard. Look, Mother Nature is undefeated when it comes to this climate game, so our suggestion is to be light and bold. Go with a lightweight graphic t-shirt, shorts, and low-cut sneakers without socks. Be sure to thoroughly wash and dry your feet along with powder before you start your day to avoid swamp foot.
As the sun begins to set and the temperature starts to drop, the nighttime is the right time to have an adventure or get into a little bit of trouble (depending on your MO). Whether you’re having casual dinner with friends or hitting the dance floor you don’t want to look like any ol’ body that’s just happy to be outside you want to be the flyest human walking the surface. Don’t overthink it, try a graphic lightweight sweatshirt, shorts, long socks, sneakers or loafers, and a bandanna for added detail. If the night is a little too warm for a sweatshirt, switch to a long sleeve tee for the same effect but without the bulk.
Sometimes you just want to get into your workwear bag but the temperature decides it wants to be hotter than two bonfires in the middle of the desert. Wearing the wrong outfit when it’s hot is not only uncomfortable but it puts a real damper on your dapperness. Unless you enjoy looking like sadness, with a side of perspiration and shame, it’s best to avoid layers and just stick with lighter pieces. Keep it simple, try going with a woven shirt (any color), necktie, a pair of contrast color pants, and sneakers. Roll up the sleeve and bottom hem of your pants to not only keep you cooler but also for additional style details.
Summer is almost in full swing and it’s time for BBQs, relaxing by the pool, gatherings with friends, and long weekends. What better way to enjoy the season but with a cool, refreshing cocktail. We put together six amazing drinks that are sure to make you the life of the set.

Look Three: Bandanna Champion
Bandannas are one of those cool accessories that people sometimes shy away from because they get images of train conductors, Fred (from Scooby Doo), and puppies. Look, you can’t rock a bandanna with anything (unless you’re from the 60s), but it does provide that extra dimension to your outfit. Try incorporating a bandanna with a nice tee, jacket, relaxed-fit pants, and canvas (or leather) sneakers. Be sure that your neckwear ties back to one of the other colors in your outfit for some additional pop.
]]>Imagine walking into your closet and having every outfit you ever wanted or needed organized, properly tailored, and ready to wear at your fingertips. It might sound like you need a large disposable income, but this isn’t the case. All you need is a bit of creativity, understanding, and focus to accomplish the goal. Here are some tips to help you create a well-rounded wardrobe that’s not only arranged, and stylish, but also tailored to your lifestyle, and on a budget.
The core of every wardrobe are the essentials. These necessary clothing articles are the foundation of any great closet and will have you prepare for almost any event that life throws at you. These items include a suit, dress shoes, woven shirt, polo, basic sneakers, plain t-shirt, denim, chinos, and belt. Once you include these items in your wardrobe you can begin to fill it out with more trendy or designer clothes.
Your fit can mean all the difference between a great or terrible outfit. Just because you got something in your size doesn’t mean it fits correctly. The quintessential wardrobe should consist of tailored clothes. The Something items might have to go to a tailor to properly fit your body composition, so for starters buy clothes that work with your body type.
Even though we should make it a point to dress at all time our best but in reality our day-to-day activities don’t require us to be on one every second. This is when we turn to items fit our lifestyle. Whether you workout, more casual, streetwear addict, or like particular sports teams, your closet should reflect this. Keep in mind that you should be able to mix these items with basics and should be tasteful.
You’re a lover of every shiny and new the fashion world has to offer. Adding the latest trends to your closet has the benefit of having an up to date wardrobe and shows that you keep your fingers on the pulse but, the positives end there. The world of fashion moves fast and trying to keep up is not only time-consuming but it can also get expensive. Believe it or not, current items have a expiration date and once that time passes those items become obsolete. Our suggestion is to only purchase pieces that can be integrated with the rest of your wardrobe. The last thing you want to look like is 2000 and late.
It’s hard to say goodbye to old or no longer in rotation clothes the we love. Some of these items have sentimental value, or are just too comfortable to let go but you need to clear out these pieces to make room. The best way to make room is to donate pieces and if they’re in great condition you can sell them to make some cash.
Listen, how are you going to have greatest wardrobe ever in life but your closet game is on zero? You got old item and out of season items thrown in with daily clothes, what a mess. But, there’s hope, with a little time, planning, and structure you’ll be on your way to a well-arranged closet in no time. Not only can a structured closet look aesthetically pleasing, in order, and hassle-free but it also helps eliminate clutter.

]]>This statement is very accurate. Living a healthy lifestyle can help reduce depression, disease, increase life expectancy, and all around well being. It doesn’t have to be an extreme workout or diet, but adding 30 minutes of fitness and small changes to our meals can make a big difference.
Time is one of the most valuable resources you have. You can’t buy it or create it, and once it’s gone, it’s lost forever. Try planning daily task or making a “Not to do” list to manage your days. (Also, it’s okay to say “No” if it interferes with your time.)
Too much TV, social media, alcohol, and junk food can hurt our minds and bodies. Remember, everything in moderation. Try to limit some of these vices and reward yourself over time for not overindulging. (And don’t overdo the rewards.)
Keeping a healthy mental state is important. If it adds unnecessary tension to your life, then step away from it. We can’t help what life throws are way but we can control how we react.
Write down what you want to accomplish and create a system to get it done. Make a game of it and enjoy the process.
If the task or goal seems overwhelming, well, it break-down into smaller, more achievable actions. Watch as that once-hulking obstacle become a tiny hurdle in no time.
Getting the recommended daily intake of water has great benefits. Drinking water helps prevent dehydration and kidney stones. It also helps with weight management and lubricates joints, the spinal cord, and other sensitive tissues. Our bodies are made of the stuff, so why not drink it.
Best way to keep your day organized is to create a schedule. You can use a digital or physical calendar, notepad, or other numerous apps to keep your life on track.
Our lives tend to be busy and remembering to do things we enjoy can be tough. Take time out for some much-deserved self-care. Go for a hike, play video games, or read that book that’s been sitting on the shelf. No matter what it is, be sure to enjoy yourself.
Hustle culture may tell you not to rest but studies show that a proper night's sleep help reduces stress, improves physical health, promotes clear thinking, and raises productivity. Recharge that battery buddy!
It may be convenient to grab something quick or order takeout, but most likely it isn’t the healthiest or most cost-effective choice. Try making making your meals at home. Not only can you control what goes into the meal, and save a couple of bucks, but also it’s a skill to learn. Step that wrist game up.
Take some time out the day to meditate. Not only does meditation helps to reduce stress, but it also regulates mood and lowers blood pressure.
Final thoughts: Remember consistency is key. Research shows it takes about three weeks (or more) before an action can become a routine. In that time you might have a few misfires (and that’s okay), but don’t let a bad lap stop your marathon. Keep going, you got this! Learning how to tie a bow tie is an important skill for a gentleman. Many well-known people from Dhani Jones to Indiana Jones have donned this famous sophisticated accent. Wearing a bow tie shows confidence and class that makes you a gentleman tour de force.
Correctly tying and wearing a bow tie is a must. A gentleman should never rely on a pre-tied or clip-on for any reason. Self-tying your bow tie adds personal character to any outfit, just be sure not make it too large or too loose or the outcome will be disastrous.
Tying your own bow tie is not only cool ability but puts you into the class of sartorial greatness.
The necktie is a must have in your wardrobe. One or two solid, neutral colored ties will cover all of your bases getting you off to a good start. We suggest shades in black, navy, red, and gray. Choose a tie that is proportional to your body type. Neck ties can be worn anytime you need to look polished and sharp. Whether it's a casual date or an interview with a fortune five hundred company choosing the perfect necktie will keep you stylish and classy every time.
The oxford shirt is a versatile garment made of tightly woven cotton. You can choose to wear your oxford with casual or formal outfits. Invest in a quality oxford preferably made with a wrinkle-free material. Buy one in white and one in blue and your styling options will be endless. The oxford shirt is guaranteed to the test of time.
Buying a pair (or two) of quality dress shoes is a must. The right pair of dress shoes can instantly transform any outfit. Dress shoes are not just for formal occasions, they are versatile too and can be a rather stylish addition to an otherwise boring casual outfit. If you are unsure and looking for a style of dress shoe that is fool-proof, then go for an Oxford in black or brown. The oxford dress shoe is a well-rounded shoe that can provide comfort, style, and clean lines.
It is imperative that every man owns a suit. A suit made of quality material and well-fitted should be a staple in your closet. It will get you through any situation. Whether it be an interview, wedding, graduation, or secret agent mission a suit is appropriate and it is the hallmark of a well-dressed man. Make sure to purchase at least two neutral color suits, one black and another in navy will do. Once you have found the perfect suit take it to your local tailor for a more personal fit. A tailored fit is a must.
A pocket square might be one of the most underrated items in a person's closet. The pocket square not only ties together an outfit but also adds a little extra flair to any look. Relatively inexpensive, with a variety of colors and patterns, the pocket square makes a great addition to any wardrobe.
Never under estimate the power of a properly fitted solid color polo. Your polo should fit your body type properly, it should not be bellowing and not so tight that it is restricting blood-flow. Polo shirts are available in plenty of colors and styles but we recommend a solid color pique if you do not already own this closet staple. Furthermore, you can really add some pop to an outfit by wearing a contrasting color polo.
Chinos are a great way to add a variety of style options to your closet. Focus on neutrals, then expand. Grey, black, navy, burgundy and even red will instantly transform your wardrobe. Chinos are an investment, buy good quality and take them to a tailor. The devil is in the details and a well-fitted pair of chinos will be worth the extra time and effort.
Canvas tennis shoes are the perfect accessory. They can be worn with a variety outfits. You can wear your canvas shoes with chinos, a suit, shorts, jeans....the possibilities are endless. Some styles even look good with age. A well-worn (not worn out) canvas shoe can add a flair of casual ruggedness that can only be acquired through experience. Choose lighter colors for spring and summer and darker colors can be worn throughout the year.
Rounding out a stylish clothing arsenal is the sports jacket. It is easy to overlook how much versatility a sports jacket will add. There are two typical versions of the sports jacket, unstructured and structured, and both have their pros. Unstructured jackets are easy to wear and tend to be the lighter weight which makes it perfect for hot weather. They are available in a variety of fabrics and effortlessly work for casual looks but can also look good for more semi-formal to formal occasions (depending on the fabric choice). Structured jackets really hold their own. They tend to be heavier and preferred for chillier weather. They tend to look more formal because there is more structure giving the jacket shape. We recommend adding an unstructured sports jacket to your wardrobe. You will get plenty of wear because it does casual looks effortlessly and can transition into a more formal look if needed. Do not forget to accessorize your sports jacket by experimenting with different shoe, neckwear, pant and shirt combinations.
A belt is absolutely essential. If your pants have belt loops you should fill them even if you are wearing a casual outfit. When it comes to formal belts, we prefer leather in black or brown. In the world of casual belts, we are crazy about D-ring belts. The D-ring belt comes in a variety of styles and is extremely easy to wear. Choose a coordinating color to refine your outfit or a contrasting pattern to add interest. Remember your choice in belt should complement the other accessories you choose to wear.
We feel that these few items will have you well prepared to be ready for any occasion. You may not need to wear your suit every week and every day may not be appropriate for your canvas shoes, but you will have them at your disposal. As you become accustomed to dressing better and expressing yourself through your wardrobe we expect that you will expand upon these basic items and create something truly unique to you, a personal narrative.
